Our state-of-the-art repair studio is equipped with a laser welding machine, diamond setting microscope for precision setting as well as a REVO wax mill, enabling us to do repairs and custom design work in-house that most jewelry stores won't even touch. Harris Jeweler Thirteen-Step Repair Process

(All repairs come with a 12-Month Warranty unless otherwise stated)

  1. Inspect item for work needed, estimate repair cost and completion time (most repair work can be done while you wait!).
  2. We are happy to show you any necessary repair work or damage by displaying your jewelry on our television under magnification. We don't just tell you, we SHOW you!
  3. You will be given a copy of the work order along with a picture of your piece before you leave the store.
  4. Repair is inspected and logged through our repair take-in computer.
  5. Repair Manager inspects again and assigns repair to one of our in-store repair specialists. All of our jewelers are certified in repairing jewelry from the top schools in the country.
  6. Work is completed.
  7. Item is made new-looking again by using various cotton and felt wheels, prepared with a fine polishing abrasive to reveal a mirror finish on the metal's surface.
  8. After the polishing is complete, the item is put into an ultrasonic cleaning machine that gently removes the polishing compound.
  9. Once the polishing compound is removed, the jewelry is yet cleaned again, using high-pressure steam.
  10. The finished repair now goes through a series of quality control checks (at least two specialists quality control every repair) to ensure all stones are tight and secure and the repair work is of high quality.
  11. You will be notified by phone, text or email that your repair is ready for pick-up.
  12. Your item is wrapped in tissue paper, sealed in the envelope and locked in our repair pick-up area until you retrieve it and is locked in our high security safes when the store is closed.
  13. You will be asked to present your claim ticket at pick-up for identification and the security of all our clients jewelry.

Jewelry Repair Guarantee

We guarantee everything we make, repair or sell for one (1) year from the date of delivery unless otherwise noted here or in writing to the client. This means we guarantee things such as stones not falling out or becoming loose and the parts that we make or repair will not break in the areas in which we have worked. Not 100% happy with your repair? Let us know within 30 days of pick-up and we will make it right!

  • Glued items

  • Lead solders that do not have a special “patch” support
  • Gold or Rhodium plating
  • Loss of any prong set stone that has 3 or less prongs
  • Loss of any stone over .20 carat
  • Loss of any prong set stone, unless it has the following number of prongs (or unless they are set in Platinum)
    • Emerald Cut ..........4 prongs
    • Oval Cut ................6 prongs
    • Marquise Cut .........Must have "V" prongs
    • Pear-shaped Cut .....5 prongs
    • Heart Cut ................5 prongs
    • Trillion Cut .............Must have “V” prongs
  • Prong-set stones that have thin prongs, missing prongs, or stones that are set crooked, leaving a much shorter prong on one side of the stone than the other
  • Bead setting where the beads are badly worn or some beads are missing or a stone is sticking up beyond the surface of the metal
  • Channel setting where either the channel is very thin, torn, not straight across the stone or there is no support underneath the channels to hold them together. Example: No cross wires or support to keep the channel from pulling away leaving the stones to loosen up or fall out
  • Bezel setting where the bezel is too thin, torn or the stone is set crooked and all of the stone is not held in by the bezel
  • The chipping, scratching or breaking of any stone once the item has left our premesis.
  • Any item of which suggested repairs were declined by the client.

Specific Guarantee for Ring Sizing

  • Free Ring Sizing: Rings purchased will receive one no-charge ring sizing within the first 30 days of delivery
  • If we size the customer’s actual finger and the size is incorrect, we will resize the customer’s ring at no charge within 30 days from date of delivery.
  • If we size a ring to the customer's requested size and that size is incorrect, we will charge to resize the ring again.
  • We can only guarantee our ring sizing from the customer’s finger. We cannot be given another ring to go by for size and be accurate.
  • The ring size on a ring will never change on its own, but sometimes due to diet, medication, the weather or weight a customer’s finger size can change.

We guarantee ring sizing for 30 days from the date of delivery of the ring.

Specific Guarantee for Tightening & Checking

  • Tightening stones: Our fee charged to check & tighten stones will warranty against stone loss for one year from delivery date of the repair as long as stones are set as described (see “items not guaranteed”). Without the extra charge to tighten stones, we cannot be responsible or warranty the stones against loss.
  • Checking Links”: When asked to “check links” on rivets, chains, bracelets, clasps etc., we cannot guarantee their loss or durability. Many items cannot be checked without taking them completely apart. This will cause the item to have to be repaired just because of the disassembly. Many items that are wearing “OK” today may have a problem days or weeks later. We can only guarantee items that we actually repair, not ones that we visually inspect.
  • Checking stones not left for repair: We are happy to clean and check your jewelry at no charge at anytime. We try to locate any problems that may be occurring with the item. Many items that appear to be wearing “OK” today could have a problem days or weeks later including stone loss or prong breakage. We can only guarantee items that we actually repair, not ones that we only visually inspect.
  • Retipped prongs on stones: We cannot guarantee the loss of a stone when we do not retip or reprong all of the prongs, when we have deemed it necessary to repair all of the prongs or tips.

Specific Guarantee for Diamonds and Gemstones

  • We do not guarantee that a diamond or gemstone once taken out of our store will not chip, break, scratch or fracture. No stone, including a diamond, can be guaranteed not to break, chip, scratch or fracture. We strongly suggest insuring your jewelry with Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company (see store for details) or your homeowner's/renters policy.
  • We cannot be responsible for the further fracture or damage to stones or diamonds that are received from the customer that are already damaged, chipped, broken or have large inclusions or imperfections. We will inform the customer of these items before proceeding with the repair or installation.

Remake an Item Guarantee

There will be no additional charge to remake a Harris Jeweler custom-designed item within 30 days of the delivery date, unless the new design would have cost more in the beginning. Example: Customer who spent $400.00 in the beginning has something remade that now costs $550.00, then the additional charge would be $150.00.

Chains that have been cut to fit are not refundable.
